The roundabout is in, the sand pit complete and last week it was incredibly exciting to witness the final tower delivered and see the concrete poured for the final pieces of equipment.
The contractors are now installing the cladding on these towers and all of the ropes, footholds and poles. The last big job before RoSPA can come and give the all clear for opening (squeal!) is the extensive wet pour safety surfacing that will wend its way right across the site to anywhere that isn’t turfed. This will visually link the whole space, but more importantly create a robust play surface that will prevent it from turning into a quagmire in the middle of winter for years to come!
The wetpour sub-contractors are due to arrive imminently, just weather and fuel dependent (after delivery challenges!) – so fingers and toes crossed for them to arrive on site soon! Plus, the old roundabout and horse have not been forgotten, they should be installed and renovated in the next week too.
We are still mulling over official opening dates and scenarios (and will announce as soon as we can), but we are super hopeful that a soft opening will happen in time for half-term. Thank you all for your patience and we look forward to celebrating with the community soon!
