Playscape: Shelter Competition Winner(s)!
We are delighted to announce the winning design of the Shelter Competition.
There were so many good ideas that in the end we decided to combine three entries. So congratulations to our joint winners: Elliot Morrison (5 years old) & Anja Evans (a local mum), who both had the idea to turn the shelter into a Merry-Go- Round and to Rod Cornaby (a local Dad) who designed a super Knights’ Tent with stripy roof.
We’ve combined their ideas as pictured, with a sophisticated midnight blue and yellow colour scheme. The horses will be cut-out silhouettes mounted to the mesh and, inspired by Anja’s inclusion of stars as a nod to Tom’s Midnight Garden, we will put up some star stickers in constellations underneath the canopy. The PC also plan to install some LED lighting, a USB charging socket and a wifi dish nearby, thus completing its transformation from uninviting, drab shelter, to bright, sociable hub!
When the horse and roundabout move over to the join the shelter we will repaint them too in complementary colours and so the whole group should strike a quirky, but fun note on the rec. Transformation date TBC, but thank you to all who entered, we loved looking at all your ideas.
